COLLEGE ESSAY/COLLEGE APP
The college essay is the most important part of the college application. It allows the college to get to know the student on a more personal level. As a mother whose daughters graduated from UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Harvard I know first hand how critical the essays are in the admission process at competitive universities.
Grades of 4.5, SAT scores of 1600, and ACT scores of 36 are highly impressive and a sign of hard work and determination not to be ignored. However, competitive universities commonly see stellar grades and impressive scores. So how does a student stand apart from other overachieving students? It is through the submission of the college essay and personal statements. This is how universities get to know the student on a more personal basis. It allows a student to showcase their talents, interests, and tell their story.
However, all these essays take considerable time and an extraordinary degree of imagination, creativity and out of the box thinking. It is necessary to plan ahead and contact me months before the due dates. A powerful essay is the most important part of the application. I get results by teaching creative and competitive techniques to get my students accepted.
ACT ESSAY
The ACT essay asks the student to read and evaluate three different arguments presented. Then the student must develop their own arguments. They must relate their argument to one of the three arguments given. Does this sound complicated? At first it is. Although with considerable practice, it can be successfully conquered.
